Lanvean Cottage
Welcome
Lanvean Cottage is an 1824 Cornish cottage in St Mawgan, just a few minutes from the north coast. I’ve loved renovating and extending it over the last few years, while retaining as much of its original cosy character as possible.
The result is a home that brings together the original stone cottage with a more contemporary extension, surrounded by a south-facing garden and the beautiful countryside around St Mawgan. I hope you’ll love it here as much as my family, friends and I do. Expect birdsong, church bells and a wonderfully peaceful place to slow down and switch off.

Living spaces
The sitting room is in the original part of the cottage, with lime-plastered walls, a woodburner and very comfortable Loaf sofas. It’s a cosy room in the evenings, particularly when the fire is going, but also gets plenty of light during the day.
The dining area is part of the newer extension, with a large dining table and banquette seating around it. There’s plenty of room for everyone to sit together, whether for a long breakfast, dinner with friends or a competitive board game.
Kitchen
The kitchen opens directly onto the patio and garden and is fully equipped with everything you should need for cooking during your stay. There are two Miele ovens, a Bora induction hob and a Fisher & Paykel fridge freezer, along with all the usual kitchen essentials.
There’s also a Nespresso machine and milk frother for the morning. With the kitchen and dining area all together in one space, it’s a naturally sociable room and a good place to gather while cooking and eating.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
There are four bedrooms at Lanvean Cottage, sleeping up to eight guests. Two have super king beds, one has a king and the fourth has adult-sized bunk beds, so the bunk room works just as well for children as it does for adults.
All four bedrooms have vaulted ceilings, with the main bedroom and downstairs bedroom both having their own en-suite bathrooms. There is also a family bathroom and a downstairs WC.
The bedrooms have luxurious bedding, high-quality Vispring and Hypnos mattresses, and blackout blinds and curtains throughout. Everything is set up with a good night’s sleep in mind.
Outdoor living
The south-facing garden gets sun all day, with a large patio, lawn and thoughtfully designed planting providing plenty of space to sit outside, eat, read a book or simply enjoy the garden. The planting also gives the garden a good degree of privacy from the lane.
The cottage sits along a quiet private lane with only a handful of houses, with the River Menalhyl running through the village and valley below. From the garden and all four bedrooms, there are views across the treetops, giving the cottage a lovely sense of privacy and elevation.
Local area
St Mawgan is one of North Cornwall’s most picturesque villages, with a traditional pub, village shop and tea room all within a couple of minutes’ walk of the cottage.
Mawgan Porth is just down the road, with Watergate Bay, Bedruthan Steps and the rest of the north coast all easily accessible by car. There are also lots of good walks from the cottage, as well as plenty to do if you’re into surfing, swimming, walking or exploring.
Padstow, Newquay and the Camel Trail are all within easy reach, making St Mawgan a great base for exploring this part of Cornwall.
